The Clowns |
Twaddles |
Twaddles has been a clown since May 2006, and is a lead clown, but he is not a bossy boots. He says he is named Twaddles because his father was a twerp and his mother waddles. |
PROFILE Ted White (Twaddles) was born in Rockhampton, Queensland in 1940. He attended Primary Schools at The Caves, Rockhampton and Quilpie. Secondary schooling was at Rockhampton State High. He commenced employment as an apprentice carpenter/joiner but ill health caused him to return to the family property in Quilpie. From there he set off on a path that would see him change career about 17 times. His jobs included postal officer, stockman/station hand on a sheep station, selling encyclopedias and insurance door to door, gardening, professional photographer, process operator in an oil refinery, managing an electronics store, managing a senior citizens day centre, bookkeeping, pumping fuel at a petrol station and finally as a newsagent in Kenilworth. Ted has been a member of a number of groups including Amateur Winemakers, Lions, Toastmasters, Rifle clubs, Chamber of Commerce and a Woodworking Guild. In these he has served in a number of committee positions. Ted is now retired and lives with his wife Carmel in Mapleton. They have two daughters and five grandchildren who all live in central Queensland. Only now has Ted discovered what he really wants to do with his life and that is to be a clown. There are many who will tell you that he has been a clown all his life but without the costume and make-up! |
