Yo Yo
Yo Yo has his ups and downs, mostly ups, and lots of downs...

PROFILE

I was born in 1943, Killarney, Queensland on the downs, schooled in Killarney and
Stanthorpe. My first job was moving dust from one place to another then back again the next
day in a hardware store. I left and worked in a bakehouse for five years. Signed on as an
apprentice after three years, however did only two years apprenticeship before gaining my
master baker/pastry cook certificate. After five years of night work I did five years at a
meatworks.
Great money when not working casual hours. After five years joined the Defence Force
(Army) and retired after twenty years and two days as a Warrant Officer Class One (known
as GOD in the army). Purchased a coffee lounge in Stanthorpe and worked that for ten years
before moving to the Sunshine Coast in retirement.

I have played all sports, played hard when young and now all that is catching up with this
older body. I represented Queensland Army playing touch for a few years. The touch was
football, not what you're thinking! I took up lawn bowls and was lucky enough to win Single,
Pairs, Triples and Fours one or two times. Represented the Downs in Queensland District
competition for a number of years as well as the Queensland RSL State Bowling Team for
five years.
My time is now filled with entertaining in shows at Club Kawana and other things the club
needs me for; playing Santa and the Easter bunny at the Currimundi Special school;
clowning with the Coastal Caring Clowns Inc. Member of Gymjam - a singing group doing the
same work as the Coastal Caring Clowns Inc. I live with my wife Janice in Currimundi.
I guess I'm still a kid at heart as the things I'm doing now in giving back to the older
community a little enjoyment probably keeps me young.
My clown name is Yo Yo because I keep playing with it! That's the YO YO!
