ROCCO Member since August 2001
George (Rocco) was born in Switzerland and emigrated to Australia in 1984 settling down very soon in Brisbane.
It was one of George's hobbies - baking cakes and pastries - which gave him the courage to enter into a business partnership. In that time George met Jacqueline who originally is from France and the two are still happily together.
After ten years of baking, George change direction and went to TAFE to study Diversional Therapy now working twenty years in Day Respite Centers. Through his work he became aware of a clown workshop in progress on the coast, organized by Barbara Brewster and in 2001, on the day the Coastal Caring Clown group was incorporated, George became a clown member.
George studied acting and performing at the Theater of Oppressed by August Boal in Paris; performing with masks at the Angry Mime Summer School with Tony Kishawi in Brisbane and attended a Lecture given by Patch Adams organized by the Empowerment Institute in Brisbane.
George also created and conducted a workshop Masks and Masquerade for the Coastal Caring Clowns in 2002 and in 2016/17/18 workshops for Skits development. He also designed for the Coastal Caring Clowns the Clown-Bus and Bamboo the Clown. George served on the committee in 2011/12, 2012/13 and 14/15/16/17/18.
George created Rocco his clown character to divert and give people a chance to laugh and have a smile. For George it is a privilege to be part of the Coastal Caring Clowns and a honor to be a clown.
